The Elevation data set is produced by the Earth Observation Research Center (EORC) at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). These data represent a global digital surface model (DSM) with 30 m resolution. This data set was created using observations acquired by the PRISM panchromatic stereo mapping sensor on the Advanced Land Observing Satellite “DIACHI” (ALOS). This satellite collected data from 2006-2011. These observations were initially used to create a 5 m resolution DSM with 5 m height accuracy (standard deviation). The 5 m resolution data were upscaled to produce the 30 m resolution, freely-available data set that is displayed here. The value in each 30 m grid cell is calculated by taking the median value of the 5 m grid cells within that area. Resource Watch shows only a subset of the data set.
